The official errata and clarifications for the Player's Guide to
Arcanis (v.2006-06-03) have been released. These changes will not
officially take effect for the Living Arcanis campaign until the
release of the June Rules Update (which we expect will go live
sometime in the next 7-10 days). The June Rules Update will include
a complete "re-adoption" of the Player's Guide to Arcanis to avoid
any confusion about which elements of the book are freely available,
which elements require campaign documentation, etc.
For players who wish to make use of the errata prior to the release
of the June Rules Update, you may do so but you do not have to do
so. (The errata will be mandatory for all characters as of the
release of the June Rules Update.) If you have a particular feat or
prestige class from the Player's Guide to Arcanis and the rules for
that feat or prestige class changed in the errata, but you do not
plan to change your character build, then you can start playing with
the new version right away.
If you want to rebuild your character as a result of the errata then
you should wait for the June Rules Update. (To be clear, although
you can use the standard Annual Rebuild rules if you wish, the June
Rules Update will provide special rebuild options that are available
to PCs as a result of the Player's Guide errata. These options will
be a little bit more generous than a standard Annual Rebuild,
including the ability to "back-convert" into certain prestige
classes that were previously restricted in the LARC. Although this
rebuild will not be as liberal as the 3.0 to 3.5 conversion was, it
is probably worth your while to wait for the June Rules Update
before making wholesale changes to your character.)
If you have questions about the errata, please post on the LA-Rules-
Discussion list, which is monitored by the campaign staff.
The campaign staff would like to thank all of the people who
participated in the discussion of the errata on the LARC-Discussion
list. Although we realize that not everyone will be happy with all
of the changes, the input of the player community was hugely
valuable and served as a major force in shaping the final form of
the errata.
