Hello,

No, we don't have rules for human cohorts at this time.

Although I suppose if you are Coryani you could buy a slave for Role-Playing purposes, but they won't fight for you per se.

Best,

That leads me to 2 questions
1st are the rules for cohorts going to be in the new book coming out...
2nd how does a slave work in living arcanis... Ie Are they just a line on equipment or do they get their own build...

I would build them as per the Beastiary rules, myself. After all, the normal rules are for Heroes, not slaves (unless you are a former slave, I guess. . .)

Hello,

IN answer to your questions:

1. I don't believe so, but Eric or Peter would be better suited to answer.

2. A Coryani slave is considered a RP tool ,so as to how to write them up, I would say on the equipment section on the Character Sheet.

Remember, they are there as an RP hook not to fight your battles or to do the things that your PC can't do, such as a Martial type having a Scholar slave to read and translate things. That may be OK in a Home Campaign, but not in the Living Campaign. If that were allowed, in essence, the person would have control over two different characters.

Best,

As Henry mentioned, we deliberately avoided the creation of multiple characters under one person's control. There was even some dispute about having faithful companions.

We currently do not plan on having Heroes that run about with a bodyguard. If you want to play that - make characters in cooperation, play together, and RP it.

As an aside, there are rules for Battle that will put a Hero (and thus the player) in command of some troops in a tactical manner.

Ok so a slave in living could help his master in doing things like puting on his armor or carry his extra gear... and extreme cases during living they can assist in certain checks that the master (pc) can already do... sort like an assistant…

The main reason for asking about the cohorts is due to the fact that the group I play with changes form week-to-week and we tend to use a cohort or 2 to even it out…

I hope there are no future plans for cohorts. I never liked the mechanic. And if you do at some point have them, I wouldn't make them a Legends option.

As a side note, if you do have a slave travelling with you, be sure that your GM knows about it before starting the adventure. We, as players, often forget about our character's gear until it becomes important for some reason. And something as potentially impactful as another person walking around with you needs to be a known factor for the GM.

Ok I have the Patrician background and it states that I will get a free slave as part of my stating gear... what his general stats for this slave? I know that a slave in the equipment pages have training in like 5 skills but other than that it does state anything about the slaves stats or mine in particular...

A standard Coryani Slave is a Tier 1 minion. I don't believe any actual stats have been listed, but I suppose you could make some via the Bestiary rules. Personally, I never worry about mine. He carries my gear and wears better armor than me (turns out, that nice leather coat I got from the Nol Doppans turned into the Ghost Rider jacket and my character wouldnt wear something that garish).

As a judge, i treat slaves like i used to treat familiars. As long as you are not trying to use them in combat, i make them combat invisible/immune. You put a sword in their hand and claim they give you Tactical Edge? Expect them to drop quickly....and have fun saving the cash for a new one.

From the core book....

Quote:
Common slaves are Tier 1, d6, human minions; whereas
Fine slaves are commonly Tier 2, d8, human minions; with
Exceptional slaves being Tier 4, d10, human minions. All
slaves possess 5 skills which must be Lore, Physical, or Social
skills at 3/6/9 ranks respectively.

page 254

Of course you would need access to a fine or exceptional slave seeing how rare they would be...

they would have all poor defenses, no talents... and as such.. not meant for combat in any way.

now if you want to bring your 100g investment into a combat situation and expect him to fight or some such... I hope you have some extra gold.. because he/she is dead within the first 6 ticks of combat... dead, dead, dead.
