I was wondering a few things about the campaign. Questions are in no particular order:
1. Is Witch Hunter a 'Living' campaign along the lines of Arcanis?
2. Who is running the campaign?
3. Who is writing the stories/background for it?
4. Is there a central, overall story arc that is planned and will unfold as the story progresses?
5. If the answer to #4 is 'Yes', who is doing the development for that?
6. If the answer to #4 is 'Yes', does that mean it is best to play the modules in order?
7. Are there, or will there be, 'Hard Points' and 'Soft Points' as are found in Arcanis?
8. If a woodchuck chucks wood, why wood, why not chuck squirrels? Go for distance!
9. How does one go about writing and submitting a module/story for consideration?
10. Are there any 'domains' within the world that have already been 'claimed' by people, and thus are unavailable to be expounded upon?
Thanks!

Okay...in order:
1) Yes
2) If you want 1 name, Brian Schoner
3) A core of mostly ex-Living Death people
4) Probably. But its early days. Don't expect to see the web of conspiracies immediately.
5) Brian & Gail and others...go to the yahoo list whdp_campaign for more details
6) The Intro mods can be played in any order. Later on I assume it will be helpful to play some mods in order...but it won't quite be like LA. In LD related mods were usually given a number in a series. Such as module #3 in the Jade Lotus series. I think (I don't know) that they'll follow the same pattern. Tim Chandler is already started an "Innocence" series.
7) No. And given that there's are no magicall crafting there really isn't a reason I can see to put that distinction in. Sub plots will hopefully be labled by series (see 6)
9) Contact Brian on the yahoo list would probably be a good start
10) There are no domains as such. Writters may unofficially end up with a domain by virtue of their "series" but it isn't as official as a triad or IK system. Usually the series system gives you "ownership" of a group of villians. "Paw Prints in the Sand" modules in LD for example dealt with Elizabeth Hardcastle, the cult of Bastet and were usually set in Egypt. But some other modules were occsionally set in Egypt as well. The Jade Lotus series dealt with the "Elder Doctor" who created the Jade Lotus cabal...you could expect to run ito him anytme you found yourself in the orient...but he also did a "world tour" where he was shadowed by the PCs.
Hope that helps.

Eric nailed most of these, but I did have a few clarifications.
1. Witch Hunter: The Invisible World is the game system. Witch Hunter: Dark Providence is the ongoing campaign, and the official website for the campaign is http://www.darkprovidence.net. The mailing list for the campaign is at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/whdp_campaign.
2. Gail Reese is the campaign coordinator; Brian Schoner (me) is the "rules guy."
3. The adventures so far have been written by a variety of experienced LD, LA, and LG authors, but we're always looking out for good ideas and folks who can write them well.
4. Yes.
5. Gail and I, in conjunction with Henry Lopez and the PCI folks.
6. It's usually best to play the mods in order, but only rarely is it strictly necessary. If particular modules should be played in a specific order, that will be made clear in the adventure description.
7. We have no plans for such a division at this time. Not all modules relate directly to the overall story arc, but we are not drawing a distinction between those that do and those that don't.
8. [deleted for spoiler reasons]
9. Write up a detailed adventure outline and email it to whdp_campaign@bellsouth.net. If you've written adventures for other ongoing campaigns, mention that as well.
10. We don't have a "domain" system per se, although some authors are writing several adventures in a certain area. No locations are "off limits" at this time, although we are trying to keep adventures set in the New World colonies for the first year or two of the campaign.
Thanks for your interest!
Best,
Brian |
