I was wondering, is there a list of Elorii words/names anywhere? A friend and I are planning to play Elorii in an upcoming home game, but we can't find much about words in the Elorii language to draw names from. The core book gives the convention for a name's "suffix", but between this and the 2007 Codex Arcanis, we haven't been able to find many examples of Elorii words.
If a kind soul feels inclined to help us, both he and I are playing Osalikene. He has a Control tradition Elder Sorcerer, and I have a smooth talking Diplomat.
Also, the lore section of the core book says that Elorii grow 3 to 4 inches during their growth spurt that comes roughly every 1,000 years. However the entry in the Race section says they grow about a foot during this growth spurt, and that some of the oldest Elorii are over 8 feet tall. I would assume the entry in the lore section is correct, as (assuming that the timeline in the 2007 Codex Arcanis is still true,) an Elorii who's lived since their creation would be roughly 8'4" if they grew 4 inches every millennium. Otherwise, the oldest Elorii would either be over 13 feet tall, or only be around 2,000 years old. _________________ Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket? |

Lots of words ending in -os and -as are common Elorii names. See Page 43 of the A:RPG. _________________ Cody Bergman

That's my problem, I haven't found lots of Elorii words to make into names. _________________ Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket? |

That is because there are not a lot of Elorii words that we have created. Pick something that sounds good. It is an exceedingly difficult language for non-native speakers because the Elorii put subtle meanings onto slight inflection changes. _________________ Eric Wiener

Your best bet is to comb the rulebook and the codex. The older products Eldest Sons and Coils might also be somehwat useful.
The 5 elemental prefixes show up a lot: Arda, Beroe, Kele, Mara and to a lesser extent Osal (i just don't see it alot in print presumably it turns up in eloran language). Bel shows up in words like Belisarda and the great betrayal Belikith...and may mean "great" in the eloran tongue. Novaros and Narderos mean (of course) never forget and never forgive. No and/or Nar presumably means never. Life Warden translates as Ardahiri. Tal Kanath means dances with elements.
You can play games by poaching from the above or inventing on your own. I built an elorii PC this time round and named him Marhiros ... the stone (or perhaps enduring) guardian/warden. He'll eventully go Order of the 12 Oaks...it seems to fit.
Arderos/Arderia might mean "life forgives" - possibly a great name for a preist of Belisarda going life warden. _________________ ~Eisener val'Holryn. Holy Champion of Nier and haunted veteran of the crusade
