Lets say my characters are riding through a forest. They critically fail their ride roll.
They fall from their horse (they are falling in a muddy road as there is a bad storm raging about them)...

How hard of a damage hit should I roll for them? 1d? 2d? 3d?

I cannot seem to find this in the book...

Thanks.

It I were the judge, I'd probably have the character make a Reflexes (Agi) roll to try to mitigate the damage. Probably 3 or 4 damage (possibly more if the horse was running or if it was a large war horse or draft horse like a clydesdale or Belgian) with each success on the Reflexes negating one of those. Remember that falling from a horse can be very dangerous.

I agree with you about the AGI roll, but only if they failed their RIDE roll.

Now I (being a mean GM) think if they critically fail their roll, they fall off. No AGI roll.

3-4? Makes sense, as they will be chased through the forest at high gallop...

I would agree with you - if they critically fail, that means that something BAD should occur. Just dishing out damage is a merciful way of dealing with it.

If it was me, I'd have them make a check to see if they broke an arm or leg!

See? I'm a meaner GM than you are! Wink

Henry,

We would represent a broken limb with a point of wound damage, correct?

With a sweep of his hat,

No I wouldn't go that route. A Wound to be is a grievous injury - potentially life threatening.

If I broke a Witch Hunter's arm - which I have done in the past - I usually deal double the normal damage and then make sure the WH doesn't do anything that one couldn't do with a broken arm, such as wield a sword with that arm, etc.

This may not be hyper-realistic, but WH is a cinematic game and the individual WHs are Heroes and should be able to do amazing things.

Best,
