For my 2 cents worth, I really hope that they do not open up the Sosi as a race unless the 5 remaining Sosi's (Chris (Amerith), Dave (Staril), Josh (Locke), Joe (Grimm), and Mark (Ven)) dont have a problem with it. Yes, it is totally up to PCI, but it would be nice to ask them as a sign of respect.
With the exception of Ven, I only think 2 of the characters ever claimed having offspring. I just think it is bad form to claim to be another player's previous character's progeny. _________________ Matthew Flinn

There's also the issue that with the exception of the Ss'ressen, the number of val'Sosi in the world are VERY limited at this point.
Heck, the number of Ss'ressen val'Sosi is limited, just not as badly. Was it one or two clutches that he was allowed to sire? _________________ Valeriano Innocenzo Camillo de Larissa la Galletti

I think it's more about the number of val'Sosi rather than the player's consent. Not enough time has passed for there to be enough val'Sosi so that you aren't their son or grandson.
But they are a part of the world. And years (in game) from now they would be playable if they were prominent enough. You may never be able to play them like the many minor bloodlines. _________________ -Devin Redd, Detroit Harvester

Sure, if we were talking 200 years down the road it is a moot point, but that was not the discussion at hand. The small number is why, imho, the 2 Sosi's who bred would need to consent. Those characters had (at most) 7-8 children. Assuming 4 children each, you are talking 32 Sosi's. Also, like any other character quirk, those children were the inventions of the player. Names, stories, everything. Allowing current players access to the "Grandchildren" means that they then get to reshape and re-define something that others created. To me, that is bad as saying "my character is J. Fracas-Val'Abebi, the bastard son of Jack Fracas and a drunken Altherian slattern". If i did that, i am defining the actions of another player's character. Which, to me, is just not cool. People become heavily invested in characters and have a problem with others deciding what they do for them. Even if the character is retired.
Personally, i hope PCI has more unique opportunities for players that could give a "Sosi-like" experience to players without having to re-hash what has been already achieved. _________________ Matthew Flinn

I agree that one shouldn't be playing one now. _________________ -Devin Redd, Detroit Harvester

Hello,
Just to clarify and give an official stamp here -
The val'Sosi are not available for selection at Character Creation.
