Well, its next week folks. Things are hectic, but falling into place. I wanted to ask people to have patience this year. Pedro and Kitty are having to take care of managing the Gathering on-site for me, as I cannot attend due to a medical procedure that week.

I trust that everyone will have a good time (and yes judges, the materials are going out over the next two days so keep an eye on your inbox).

Thank you so much for your offer, John! The biggest favor you can do is to have plenty of patience with HQ staff and your judges. The second is to help clean up after your tables and be nice to the hotel/convention center staff. We are also looking for marshalls. And just what is a marshall? I'm glad you asked, John!

Marshalls check in at HQ 15 minutes before the slot starts, verify that the judges are present and pass on announcements/reminders to them from HQ, assist players in joining into legal tables when needed, assign tables (HQ will give you a list that keeps everyone sound-separated from others playing the same adventure, no worries) and send judges whose tables did not go off back to HQ (along with a list of how many players are at each table so HQ can send stragglers to a table quickly). Marshalls may get to their table a little late, but so long as you are playing and/or judging within the Gathering that slot, we can have that event's marshall reserve your place and advise your judge. (Since we only need you for a very small portion of each slot, it does not count towards Judge/Volunteer rewards, but you will get the sincere thanks of HQ staff, judges, and hopefully some players.)
