It has been said that humans lack the divine spark of inherent magic. In the original mechanics, this meant that humans couldn't be Sorcerors, though they could be Wizards.
In the new mechanics the only place I see that reflected is in the Talent "Of the Mundane".
So in light of the end of the original campaign arc and the start of the second, any thoughts on this lack of spark? What does it mean? What does it really reflect and how if at all does that impact the mechanics in the new system? I'm fine with a new thread being started specific to the mechanics question.

Paul,
Please remember that there were certain tropes from D&D that had to be taken into account during the D20 era - the whole square peg/round hole issue.
That was my attempt to make Arcanis work with D&D. Since we're no longer under such constraints, it no longer applies.
Humans who have "The Gift" can wield Arcane magic. Those who don't have it, can't; though they can learn Divine Cants, if they have enough faith. _________________ Henry Lopez

Henry,
Agreed. I remember extensive discussion about what the lack of "spark" meant within the cosmology underneath not specific to the rules system. There's still something about humans that are noticeably different as only they and gnomes can take the "Of the Mundane" Talent. The truth behind the differences for humans may never be answered, but it's clear there's a story there that makes you go "hmmmm..."

Paul,
Sorry - but if those discussions were with me, I honestly don't remember them.
Nope - the Sorcerer-Wizard things was purely derived from the D&D square peg. _________________ Henry Lopez

Ya, as Henry says it was just to make Arcanis fit into D&D. The main shtick for sorcerers was that they were descended from dragons and since Arcanis has very, very, very few true dragons running around it just didn't make sense. _________________ Kailandos, Elorii Chanter of the Rebirth and the Bright People
