Alright gentlemen - Please stop.
We're not saying that you can't play LA Online nor are we telling you that we will not support LA play Online.
What I can say is that the Harvester Program was created with one of the the intents being generating a relationship and promoting games in Stores and Conventions.
No one is saying that Online play is bad, but it's just not what the Harvester program is designed to do.
I hope that's clear.

In a way, this message board is effectively a Harvester (Online) already |
This is really quite unfair. Online gaming is now a valuable tool just as the internet has open up so many other options in other walks of life. Despite what the song says the internet is not only for Porn.
I am sorry that you old school gamers don't approve of online gaming but it is here to stay and there are many of us who would never get the opportunity to game if it was not for the internet. It would cut out a ever increasing market of Gaming that I think PCI would be unwise to exclude. (Not that I beleive they are excluding us, I am not trying to start a rumor here)
I am in one of the largest PCI gaming communities in the south, outside Atlanta and your all's home turf down in Florida, but I don't always get to game with the regular gamers here locally. Here in Knoxville we have a Gaming store that Strongly supports RPGer's, and PCI. I am good friends with the store owner and many of the local PCI players including Witch Hunter's own Jeffrey Witthauer but I am lucky if get over there twice a month to play.
I like many gamers, these days, have young kids, a less than understanding wife, and a busy schedule so F2F gaming is not always on option. If it was not for online gaming I don't think I would have lasted this long in what can only be one of the most entertaining and enjoyable hobbies out there.
I understand the sentiment of you old schoolers that don't appreciate Online gaming, and in may ways you are right to say it is not as fulfilling as F2F. Given the choice between dehydrating to death or drinking refreshing yet lukewarm water, I will drink lukewarm water. Given the choice between no gaming and the occasional online game, I will choose online games
If PCI said tommorrow " No More Online Play" I would shed a tear, Go sell all my books, and renew my DCI subscription which I recently cancelled. I cancelled it because I am excited about all the great things PCI is doing. If I use my valuable time gaming, I want it to be with the great story telling and initelligent character options of PCI products.
After saying that I am not sure a online Harvester Cord. would be necessary but there should be some way for us to tap into the Harvester system so what we can do even if we only make it that every online story teller must contact there own regional Cord. so that we can make sure the games played get counted.
I make one last plea that we online players are not discriminated against just because that is not how RPG playing is done.

I never implied that online gaming was bad, it just isn't my perference. I played Battletech online for YEARS (both the boardgame version AND a strategy version over forums) and enjoyed it immensely. However, I do truly love sitting there with friends (or even strangers!) and simply be there. My point was more to the effect of "This program is meant to foster person-person interactions for the game," which I believe it is. It simply is not designed for that particular use. _________________ Cody Bergman

The irony, Russell, is that I immediately thought of volunteering, but I knew that wasn't what they were looking for.
I'm contemplating applying for the Detroit area Harvester. If I did, I would be getting some committed folks to help me as needed. We'll see if my wife goes for the idea first |
Well just from the terminology, I kinda figured it wasn't what they specifically were after. I have looked around a lot as I am in a new area. A group about 60 miles north of me is playing and has been playing. It has two pitfalls for me when they play and where they play. i just know I cannot normally comit to playing there with them at that time.
Face to face play is preferable. I agree but I am older player with a family and a job (even when I didn't have a job it was a full-time job to look for work) Between family and work, I find it hard to comit to playing face to face. So online play fills the gap for me. In fact, I only play face to face on D&D encounters now or conventions.
That being said this is not the program for online play. I understand that. I hope this area gets someone outgoing and good. There are plenty of roleplayers in the area. Lots of weekend play just not at a convienient time for me. |

I think we were all agreeing that it was, Henry, but the clarification is appreciated.
To get back to the original topic, it will be interesting to see what areas get coordinators. Looking forward to seeing how this develops! |

| As much as I want to do this, real life just won't let me make the commitment. If circumstances change I'll definitely send in my application. |

Thanks for your application.
I wasn't planning on sending our receipt emails as we've gotten quite a few applications (many from the same place), but we're going to keep the process open for a while longer to make sure everyone gets a chance to apply.
When we make a decision, we'll send out acceptance emails to those selected and thank you ones to those who weren't. _________________ Henry Lopez

Any time frame on when a decision will be reached Henry? That way those of us who applied can stop constantly clicking the refresh button on our email client. _________________ Kailandos, Elorii Chanter of the Rebirth and the Bright People

Hello James,
As I said above, we're leaving the application process open for a while (as in a few weeks).
Notification of acceptance or not will be sent as soon as decisions have been made.
Thanks for your application!
