how do i add an avatar to my profile? i tried putting in my dropboc but when i linked to it that way i got an error message. any ideas?

| if that is drop box then you need to have it shared or in the public folder. there are instructions for how to link to items in the drop box public folder. |

Um... I'd like to do the same thing, but have no idea what your explanation meant. I'm not a computer tech, just a big, dumb Heavy Duty tech....

if you have a drop box account you can place an properly sized picture in the public folder that is made when you sign up. Then you right click (assuming windows) on the picture in the folder and in the menu select drop box then copy public link. Now you can paste this link into the line on your account settings here for an avatar. |

In a more general sense, this forum will not host your image. (that is, the image that you want to use as your avatar must physically reside on some other server.) In your profile, you can enter in the hyperlink (URL) that gets to your image.
Most image hosting sites out there will work. Some are easier to use than others. But if you use something like DropBox, Flickr, Picasa etc., then by default, any image that you upload is private to you. The image must be in a publicly accessible location.
