My wife an I were talking last night and the question came up of what would happen if, since it's legal in certain parts of Onara, a PC wished for their character to be the slave of another PC's character?

There are certain backgrounds which allow it (to an extent): Former Slave being the obvious one. That said, the whole story about the Hero suggests that they are freemen. Of course, that is only a convention so I see no reason why it CAN'T work with good Roleplay. There is no game-specific mechanic to allow for this, but if that is how you wish to RP your character, go for it! Hell, there was a notable NPC from the 1st year of the 3.5 Campaign who was a slave AND a Priest of Sarish. . .

One major drawback to keep in mind is that if you are a current slave and not an ex-slave or freedman, many areas of Onara have very stringent weapon restrictions about what a slave is allowed to carry (with a penalty of Death!)
There is no tradition of janissaries (armed slaves) that I can remember in any countries.

The other issue is the limited areas where slavery is illegal. It would be hard to travel through those areas.

You only really get harassed. It was under my understanding that a player could take a slave with them into countries where it is illegal, as long as they weren't flaunting it pushing their slave(s) in the face of others.

That being said, playing a slave, wands, weapons and eldritch casting would be the biggest issue. Can one have a val slave, psionics might be out if not. But one could play a pugilist, shaman, or a priest.

Indeed! As I said, there is prescedent for a Sarishan Priest who was a slave (oh, Decimus).
