Love the link Kitty, being a science geek as well it was impressive to see someone actually explain it. |

Thanks, good to know that it won't be a bunch of stuff just dropped onto us at once. _________________ Brian Trahan |

|
|
I have returned to the Denver area and got a chance to check back into the campaign that I loved so much. I was excited to play the new system and see it is as a huge improvement over 3.5. Great job, Pedro & Co.!
Calvin Curtis mentioned to me at Genghis Con that the modules were being re-released for home play with the new rules. I am excited to hear this, but would like to share my experience as a home play GM who ran Arcanis for close to three years.
The main thing that I regret is that I did not do an adequate editing job and therefore did not progress through the larger story arc to give, to me, a satisfactory ending to the story before I moved away from my local group in Austin, Texas. I think we probably made it through the first 2-3 years of the original story arc.
Has there been any thought about doing a higher level story summary and/or a heavily edited story arc designed for home play?

Hello and welcome back to the Campaign.
I have some ideas on what to do about the original six year story arc, but everything in its time - meaning it won't be until after the Summer shows before we even start thinking seriously about it.

is there a possible to get a player made tool kit that will allow me to convert the old modules into the new game system mechanics.
Or something loose, I am Playing the first year and I am randomly making stuff up to include the monsters. Shooting from the hip one might say. |

Hello,
I would rather not as that would defeat the purpose of our getting the conversion products out later this year.
Have you run through the entirety of the Crusade? That's over 20 adventures right there.

I have for the most part been using some of the current LA arc that I have played as a player, and re-skinning them to fit whats needed.
Is there any assistance that can be provided help the conversion process along?
I plan to be running a few current LA adventures for the main group in town, but will still enjoy running the older adventures in a different time slot to train new players and flesh out the world for them in between chapters |

DISCLAIMER: THE FOLLOWING POST CONSISTS MOSTLY OF SUPPOSITION ON MY PART AND IS NO WAY OFFICIAL.
The problem with a re-skinning document is that PCI is releasing select of their Living Arcanis adventures as print products. I believe this will only count for those adventures which were 1) Major Story Points, and 2) Were written by members of the PCI staff (ie: Henry Lopez, James Zwiers, etc) owing to the legal issue of SELLING a product written by others. The conversions are being done by another individual (can't remember who at this time) along lines as dictated by PCI.
That being said, there are a few things that will absolutely change between the 'old' versions and the 'reskinned' versions as PCI is moving away from many D&D tropes that were included in the original campaign for various reasons. At present, PCI and its associated staff/volunteers are in the process of retooling certain essential things for the new universe while getting rid of others.
For example: In "Modern" Arcanis, there are no Hobgoblins, Gnolls, Bugbears, etc. All of these races (as far as I can tell) are being replaced with the Gar Race. This makes sense as, within Arcanis Canon, most-to-all of these races were originally bred from the original Gar stock. Similarly, the Ssethregoran Empire included many races which were brought over from the D&D (Kobalds, Troglodytes, etc) which are also being removed and remolded. We already know that the Trogs (and probably the Kobalds too) are being reskinned as the yet-unseen Salamankas race.
Eventually, with the release of a full Bestiary (or sufficient "installments"), a GM Guide, and a few 'regional' books, you will be able to modify whatever adventures you like into the new system and this universe. Alas, at this time the PCI staff is bogged down finishing up Rotted Capes, Witch Hunter 2nd Edition, the Blessed Lands Campaign Guide, future Bestiary volumes, and a multitude of other guides and supplements that have been promised. While PCI does have many willing volunteers to help them with stuff, the "Core" group of actual PCI staff 'in-the-know' number around half-a-dozen, with all of them having day jobs, families, and lives beyond PCI. As such, there are only so many hours in the day they can dedicate to new products. There are a few 'solutions' to this but most of them cost money that PCI (probably) cannot afford on its own right now.
1) Staff quits their other jobs and moves to do this full time.
2) Many of the present volunteers (Kitty, Melinda, Tony, etc) are made 'full-staff' (not sure if they would get pay or how this works organizationally) and can be given the Big Book of Arcanis to add more warm-bodies to the problem.
3) Start more 'pitches' such as the Military Organization documents, where they accept submissions for paid writing. This means that they can get many of the smaller documents done by independents.
As for the conversions already on the go, I have heard that most of the original adventures have been finished (or nearly so) and are waiting on other things (Art? Editting? Publishing costs? Time to make them into a pretty .pdf?). However, if you want to help editing, contact people such as Tony (Njal val'Assante on these boards) and he can probably steer you to where you need to be. _________________ Cody Bergman
