A lone man walks up the road toward the inn. His downcast face and dark cloak mark him as deep in thought. His steps falter as he raises his eyes to glance around. He softly mumbles to himself "Crap. That's what I get or not paying attention to where my feet take me."
He takes a deep breath and then continues to the inn proper. Upon entering he cast his glance around from beneath his hood. Not seeing anyone who may recognize him, he relaxes just a touch. He then orders a meal and a drink and takes a table to himself. The hood of his cloak remains up, concealing his face. It takes very little observation to note that he is wearing armor beneath and the worn hilt of a once valuable gladius can be seen.

"Hmmmm, what have we here? A mysterious new guest bearing a typically Coryani weapon...and apparently doesn't want to be seen ... intriguing."

Penguino the dwarf studies the new entrant intently for the next few minutes searching for hints to their identity as well as their race and features. After a time he turns back to his companions.

"Well, I don't know who he is, and at this point, unless he draws his blade on me, I don't care. It's getting to be about time we ditch these comfy chairs and warm meals and return to what we do best... adventure."

"Serah? Pareth? ............sigh ......... Monkey?"

Seemingly coming out of a daze with a far-off look on her face, Serah refocuses on her companions.

"Sorry, was just thinking a bit about the future. I have a sinking feeling that some huge changes will be forced upon me in the next few days. Don't know what it is, and don't really like it at all. Probably another god going to offer me a job or something. If it's Illiir, I'll tell him to shove his 'destiny' where he doesn't shine."

Noticing the val that entered recently, she returns the 'secret' signal of the Hawks and Shield. And she would be much easier to know...something like 13 or 14 fame with them. [Only mission I failed in 3 years was one this silly dwarf betrayed us on.]

"So, you're off to see your 'contacts' on those strange beings we slaughtered, eh? Told ya, they're Voiceless Ones. Your allies, or at least those of your organization. Say 'Hi' from me, and let em know I'll be seeing them in the future...but only briefly and they won't enjoy the visit."

aka Serah Hawthorne, currently Cleric8/Berotar5/Heirophant5, but will be somewhat...changed with the errata.

"Once again, I have no idea what you are referring to Serah, but I'm done trying to convince you, so good day."

And with that farewell, the dwarf disappears in the blink of an eye.

After a quick cast and scan (True Sight of course), Serah sighs and turns back to Parath. She no longer makes any attempt at holding her voice down, as the Dwarf is apparently uninterested in hiding his gifts anymore.

"You do know he's got the same psionics as those freaky things we fought the other day, right? Dom and this ring have comfirmed it multiple times. In all my hundred plus years, I've only encountered those types of psionics three times. And every time, they were either those abominations or those who directly served them. Match that up with his actions being highly dubious in a few situations....and I don't like where it takes me. He's been useful as a beast of burden and target practice, but I'm not entirely sure I can continue to assist him in any meaningful way. Though he swore to turn his back on them if he ever found out difinitively who they are and their goals of eating our world, I kinda don't give him credit for putting 2 and 2 together when 'go' time comes. I suspect he'll bail. Stupid ignorant Mourner."

"Which, doesn't mean all bad things for the hit squad, since we're taking a long break after killing so many snakes. It's good to take a vacation every so often, we're long overdue."

"Well, now that the antisocial, psychopathic, anti-establishment, preturnaturally psionic dwarf-thing is gone, want to go make some friends? Because we're the social ones of the group, in case you didn't know! I've always considered you the 'relations' and 'complaint' compartments rolled into one."
