So how exactly would that work?

Taint hunters "may never knowingly associate with a dark-kin or other Tainted individual on a non-hostile basis. It is permissible for a taint hunter to (briefly) act friendly towards Tainted individuals in order to allay their suspicions for a later attack, but a taint hunter who knowingly allows one of the Tainted to live when he could have acted to destroy them has betrayed everything that the class stands for. Such a character immediately loses all benefits of the taint hunter class until he either receives an atonement spell or slays the Tainted individual that he wrongfully allowed to escape his righteous wrath"

Obviously you can't go around slaying your fellow PC's, but if a Taint Hunter happens to be in a party...

I'm assuming this is going to be covered in the errata, but I'm curious, since one of my friends is going to run the Nishanpur mods for me and some friends, and I'm not sure if I should go towards a hunter and be anti-infernal or do something like a sarishan knife from the Canceri book or one of the infernal heritage classes...

As written, you can expect to spend a lot of time atoning if local players play dark-kin. The ban on PC vs. PC violence is still in effect.

The answer to this was specifically mentioned in the errata for LoD which is still being discussed.

I was the one who originally brought it up off-site with Typo. I'm playing a Tir Betoq Holy Champion of Hurrian and was curious how the whole anti dark-kin thing works from a role-play perspective. On the one hand, Tir Betoqi Dwarves have pretty much given their entire existence over to the destruction of Tainted, including Dark Kin. On the other hand, he's a LG Champion of a god that does'nt really like senseless violence. Obviously killing dark-kin charcters is not only against the rules/spirit of the campaign, but is also against the teaching of the Church of Hurrian, even though it's in his background and in his blood.

I guess I'd like some opinions on how to handle Dark-Kin PC's at the table, especically if I DO take a few levels in Taint Hunter.

How our local Tir Betoq stormlord does it is like this:

"I'll kill you last."

In regards to Taint Hunter and Dark-kin, the errata for Legacy of Damnation will address that when it's released in the next day or two.

Well as I have playing a Tir Betoqi for 17 levels worth of modules, I can lend you some experience. Up until an unfortunate incidence in "Shadows of a Forsaken Past", here was how I handled Dark Kin.

I would take every role playing opportunity to insult, threaten, belittle, and all around be nasty to them.

In combat, well yes you can't attack them. But nothing is in the rules saying you have to help them. I would not aid them, give them healing magic, etc. If they dropped to -9 and bleed at my feed. Oh goodie! Smile

Now I would tell them up front this is how my character is. And most understand. I am very big on "playing your character" even if it causes party strife. So in the end, I think fun was had by all.

Oh and modules like "He Who Conquers Himself" are very entertaining.
