I was looking at possibly building a divine Bard build given that Cadic is the God of music. I had a very hard time doing it. One of the things that's complicated it has been the consolidation of knowledge skills into Etiquette. The reason this is an issue is that Bard requires Eclectic Knowledge which in turn requires 3 knowledge skills as primaries. Vals used to have a choice of 2 different knowledge skills but they got consolidated into Etiquette.
I certainly support keeping the knowledge specializations to a reasonable number. Perhaps as an alternative to 3 knowledge skills as Primary, could it be 3 trained knowledge skills?
Along these lines the background most thematically suited to bard is performer and it doesn't give an option for knowledge skills. Not as critical if you make eclectic knowledge require 3 trained rather than primary knowledge skills.

Paul,
When compiling the Quicklaunch book, we had to make some tough choices in what to take out and what to leave in - one of the items that got cut was the Bardic tradition.
They will be included in the main book, but one of the reasons you're having such a rough time designing a Bard is that many of the necessary ingredients are missing.
Sure, you can cobble one together now, but it will not be quite like the Bard build available next year. _________________ Henry Lopez

If you look on page 62, you may note that Larceny, Seamanship, Heal and Tracking are all Knowledge skills as well.
There is some thought about consolidating the Lore and Knowledge categories (not the skills themselves) and firming up some prerequisites. _________________ Eric Wiener
