Fan theory time: Who do you think is the eponymous “Destroyer” of the Coming of the Destroyer arc, and why? The field is open, and let us see who you can come up with!
January 10, 2016 at 9:33 pm #270838AnonymousInactiveHenry shows amazing insight and/or the gift of prophecy. Therefore, the Destroyer= Donald Trump.
Seriously, though…what are the established clues?
If the Destroyer is an already established entity in Arcanis (big assumption) the most logical answer is the Sword of the Heavens…he was unbeatable in battle and the last Imperator of the First Imperium. Using meta-gaming, I think it is safe to say the Destroyer is not an Infernal (since we just dealt with the most potent infernal on Onara in the Crusade arc). We could be dealing with a Valinor (including the Sleeping Emperor) or massively potent elemental lord. Given the great ambiguity of the gods always being silent, I doubt we are talking about any of the gods themselves.
Then again, I assume a single powerful entity. What if the Destroyer isn’t a person, but a force (like the Cult of the 1000 Eye Man)….or a natural disaster….or a plague. Or, just some schmuck with a massive nickname and some big hyperbole behind him.
January 10, 2016 at 9:42 pm #270839AnonymousInactiveMy current betting is on Calmemnon, when he returns with the survivors of the Legion of Heaven’s Blade.
(Which will be a real *****, as that’s my own legion…)
January 10, 2016 at 9:55 pm #270840frootsnaxParticipantTrump….ahhh. Ahhh ahhh. wahh…I. Can’t. breath! …. THAT sir, was a good one.

OOC: it has and continues to seem to me like the answer is Calemnon. For a whole host of reasons (his name will stop the heart of an Emperor….). The Destroyed is always referee to as a “He” so I assume it’s not a a force or coalition as Matt suggests. But he’s got friends!!! Out of the West 1000 feet.
For the record I think Cal and his legion survived being banished to DZV and have conquered a bunch of “metal” hive like cities. He’s swept into the West seizing\recruiting the Godless and some of the city states of the Ossarion Empire and is circling back to take the First City and the Throne of Man…in part by sacrifices ng the “most innocent” and ending the “Endless Choir.” Look out for val’Assante spys\scouts with Chauni guides…like Marcus Lepidus & Chinuwat. His seizure of the ToM may precipitate the release of the Other whom the elorii call Umor.
IC: As Tukufu I have been handing out his Annotated Guide to the Prophesies for close to 2 year to players at tables (and Arcaniscon and Origins in 2015). I would be happy to IC forward a copy to anyone who hasn’t gotten one yet who can justify even a semi plausible connection (Altherian, former Crusader, Emerald Society, connected to the Golden Court….loves bookstores….).
January 11, 2016 at 2:19 am #270864AnonymousInactiveIC: “…burp… So, eh, tuki, you don’t need worry about the destoyer. Ozzie is dead.”
January 11, 2016 at 2:21 am #270865AnonymousInactiveOut of the west 1000 feet? Well, that is 500 bodies. Or most of a Coryani legion.
January 22, 2016 at 2:07 am #271055AnonymousInactiveAs Bardus has eluded to….
My pet theory is that Calmenmon will -reveal- the destroyer of worlds to be Kassegore as trapped in the dark moon.
January 23, 2016 at 12:41 am #271071AnonymousInactiveThis is likely to delve into spoiler territory… so I’ve moved it appropriately.
January 23, 2016 at 2:35 am #271077AnonymousInactiveMuch like in the last campaign was the Valinor over Grand Coryan real or a fake.
I think the question we will be asking is “Is this the real Calmemnon or a fake?”January 23, 2016 at 8:11 am #271080PCI_AdminKeymasterSo if it’s Calmennon, who’d bother imitating him?

Cal might turn up in disguise triggering the question…is this guy here the Destroyer?

I feel like a missing question is “what can be done about the Coming of the Destroyer?”
In the face of that sort of prophecy I can imagine one either being defiant or resigned.
I’m in the latter, because I have no idea about how to effectively be the former.
January 24, 2016 at 8:57 am #271095frootsnaxParticipantTukufu is also largely resigned. The prophesies come from a wide variety of priests of Illiir and Larissa…and even other sources. It would seem to be part of “the Divine Plan.” Sadly none of the many prophesies mention escape clauses. It seems the Destroyer is inevitable … and even if it weren’t, derailing his coming could derail fate and cause the Divine Plan to fail (less of an issue for elorii and Mourner characters).
That said Tukufu is on the look out for ways to do “mitigation” and/or “damage control.”
January 24, 2016 at 10:59 pm #271099AnonymousInactiveWe are missing a more important question. WHAT is the destroyer supposedly going to destroy? We all assume that the coming destruction is a bad thing. But destroying evil and other what-not is often a good thing. Still, other things destroyed would just be interesting….

The current world order. If we’re lucky…just that. If not (really really not) … Arcanis may go down a moon.
