Grand Tome of Adversaries Preview #2

The Grand Tome of Adversaries, the next exciting supplement for the critically-acclaimed Witch Hunter: the Invisible World, is coming soon. This week we are happy to present one of the terrifying menaces of the Invisible world.

Nephilim

"Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, 'We should by all means go up and take possession of [this land], for we will surely overcome it.' But the men who had gone up with him said, 'We are not able to go up against the people, for they are too strong for us.' So they gave out to the sons of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, 'The land through which we have gone, in spying it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants; and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great size. There also we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.'"
Numbers 13:30-33

One True Nephilim that is said to live beneath the waters of the Aegean Sea is Iapetus, one of the last of the Hecatonchires. This being is said to be a swarm of one-hundred heads upon an oozing mound of pulsating flesh and arteries. At his whim, Iapetus manifests one-hundred limbs to pull his massive form about the ocean floor. Iapetus has a number of cults throughout the world who worship him. It is said that he can communicate with his followers through powerful rites of the flesh.

Grand Tome of Adversaries Preview #1

The Grand Tome of Adversaries, the next exciting supplement for the critically-acclaimed Witch Hunter: the Invisible World, is coming soon. This week we are happy to present the first of the great forbidden societies of the Invisible world.

The Coven of the Dark Canticle

Of all the Forbidden Societies in the world, the Coven of the Dark Canticle is perhaps the most feared. Not even the Orders of Solomon themselves strike up as much trepidation as this age-long sisterhood does. When their name is spoken, I find peasants usually do so with a glance placed over the shoulder, or with a sign against the evil eye. Whenever they arrive, these beings create legends and folklore in their wake. There are sites across the world that are known simply because a member of this society worked her magic in that place, or said a few passing words to a complete stranger.

Little is publicly known about this society, for when the Dark Canticle works their machinations, it is usually from the shadows and the darkness. However, the evidence of their work can be seen on just about every continent on earth. They are behind such events as the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, the rise of Vlad Tepes, and the fall of Babylon.

Ironically, this society is responsible for the very birth of Witch Hunters, for it was this sisterhood that caused the corruption of the Great Seal of Solomon. For that reason alone, most Witch Hunters steel themselves when they hear the name of this most dreaded circle of witches.

Witch Hunter: the Invisible World

"See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction." Deuteronomy 30:15

Origns 2007, Set Sail for a New World of Horror!

Since the Serpent first crept into Adam’s garden, evil has always been with us. Wherever Man has traveled, he has found spirits, daemons, monsters, and all manner of enemies to both his mortal flesh and his immortal soul. These creatures come in many guises, and oft go unseen by the very common people who they most endanger – unseen, at least, until it is too late to escape their clutches. Let us thank God, then, that for almost as long as these evils have plagued mankind, there have been men and women with the faith and courage to fight them, to keep evil at bay so that the good men and women of the world may carry on with their lives, all unaware of the doom which awaits them should the vigilance of their guardians ever waver.

Such a duty is one that few would choose willingly, particularly if they understood the nature of their foes. And indeed, when those foes are invisible to the untutored eye, even a willing guardian would never know that his efforts were needed. But those precious few, given sight of the Adversary, and the will to face them, are the Witch-Hunters. Those rare persons, men and women, Christian, Jew or otherwise live a hard life. A life with no home but one’s boots, no kitchen but a fire-pit, and never the same bed from one week to the next is not one that any of us would choose freely. This is the burden of the Witch-Hunter, and God gives such burdens only to those who can bear them. If the shepherd labors not to defend the sheep, the sheep will die and the shepherd will starve. How much more important, then, are the men over whom you, the Witch-Hunter, stand as the shepherd?
